Trip to Yufuin, Japan
In November, I returned to Japan. I traveled with a small group of people who wanted to go somewhere that none of us had been before. We ended up going to the remote town of Yufuin, outside of Oita. This region is known for onsens (hot springs). We were referred by a travel magazine editor to a new place called Enowa Yufuin (https://enowa-yufuin.jp/). Known as a “botanical retreat,” we were told that we were the first non-New York City visitors from the US. Each of the suites we stayed in had its own onsen. It was an incredibly relaxing and wonderful experience. (Update–see my post on Memorable Meals of 2023 for my take on Jimgu, the restaurant at Enowa.)
