Hong Kong, Jakarta, Shanghai, and Tokyo 2024

During spring break in March 2024, I returned to Asia for a work trip, including my first time back in China since the pandemic. While I’ve been shooting with a Leica M11 recently, I was anxious to try out my new Leica Q3. I was excited to try out the lightweight point & shoot on this trip.

These were a few shots of Hong Kong.

I walked around the Bund in Shanghai on a free morning. Here are a few images from the quiet day around the walkway by the river on the rainy morning.

Also went on a river tour on a boat later that night.

And on the way back to LA, I stopped in Tokyo for the weekend. When I scheduled this, it appeared I’d be there during the prime cherry blossom time in Tokyo. But because of the irregular weather, it seems the blooming was delayed by about a week, so there weren’t many trees in full bloom. I was told the best spot was at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
