Sushi Saito, Tokyo

At the top of the list is a place that’s been on the bucket list for a long time. I made a pilgrimage to Sushi Saito in Tokyo for an incredible meal by legendary chef Takashi Saito. His former three-star Michelin restaurant is now open on a referral-only basis, so I didn’t think I’d ever tick this one off, but I got invited by a friend who is friends with Chef Saito. So I did the quick trip to Tokyo just for dinner! Such a memorable experience.

The Clove Club, London

I had to make a return trip to The Clove Club after doing an abbreviated tasting menu last year in a pre-theatre visit. This time I did the full meal. And what made the meal even more special was the pairing: the first time I’ve ever encountered a tea pairing!

Hu’s In the Kitchen

A play on the name of our family restaurant Hu’s Chinese Kitchen (1975-1985), I had to include one of the fundraising dinners where I prepare a 15-course dinner for a dozen guests.
